BRIEF

Visitors to the newly refurbished East Sydney Community and Arts Centre are invited to engage in physical or imaginative play in the new interactive artwork –S(w)ing by artists Turpin and Crawford.

Big Kahuna Imagineering was commissioned by the artists and the City of Sydney to realise this exquisite artwork from the concept design. Three large illuminated colourful pendulum discs swing in a joyous choreography of colour, light and movement. Coloured ropes connected to pulleys are pulled by children playing in the space below to set the pendulums and their colourful discs in gentle or energetic motion. Overlapping in varying degrees, the movement of the translucent discs mixes vivid colour and illuminated pattern live.

BRIEF

Big Kahuna Imagineering’s brief was to replicate the famous Big Mac – Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun!  McDonald’s aim was to thank its farmers with a towering tribute – A giant Big Mac set atop a 6m elevated platform in the country town of Tamworth.

McDonald’s said “We’re incredibly excited to welcome the Down Under Big Big Mac to Tamworth. Agriculture is at the heart of our community with farmers taking great pride in supplying the tastiest and best produce. The Down Under Big Big Mac is a great way to say thanks to the farmers here in Tamworth and across the country who help keep Australian agriculture prosperous.”

It was a time-consuming process here flipping burgers!  We were “baking” giant buns right here in the workshop.  Just to give you an idea of the size of it – The sesame seeds were the size of a lightbulb!
